The upgrade will include heating, ventilation and air-conditioning works at the station.
“The Nowra Police Station is one of the major service points for the South Coast Police District and a base for our police staff,” Mrs Hancock said.
“This essential upgrade will improve conditions for our hard working policemen and women and support staff.
“When police are supported with the best facilities it makes it easier for them to go out into our communities every day and keep people and properties safe.
“This funding will make it that little bit easier for police to carry out their duties from an upgraded base.
“The funding secured in today’s budget for Nowra Police Station is in addition to $3.2 million to continue works on the Bay and Basin Police Station, which began last week and are due to be completed within 12 months.
“Here on the South Coast we are fortunate to have fantastic policemen and women who support the community not just on the job but as great members of the community also.
“I am proud to have secured the funding to provide state of the art facilities for the South Coast Police District at both Nowra and the recently commenced Bay and Basin Station at Sanctuary Point.
“Both these projects are possible thanks to the strong economic and fiscal management of the Berejiklian Government allowing us to deliver world class services and infrastructure.”
