
A Sydney man has had a lucky escape after being washed off rocks while fishing near Currarong early Monday morning.

The man in his mid 20s was washed off rocks at Little Beecroft while fishing for live bait with a friend around 6am.
The man was wearing a life jacket at the time but was unable to activate it.
The man’s friend and a number of other witnesses in the area alerted emergency services.

NSW Police and NSW Ambulance Rescue crews rushed to the scene.
The man managed to tread water for around an hour before being rescued by the Toll NSW Ambulance Rescue Helicopter.
He was airlifted to a nearby ambulance suffering hypothermia, minor injuries and shock and was taken to Shoalhaven District Hospital.
He is reported to be in stable condition.
