Despite the cool weather, dozens of locals turned out to the markets at the Maritime Museum.
Rangers Dion Maple and Stig Pedersen brought with them Banksia Vincentias, which are being cultivated to be planted in the national park
“There are only four live plants in the wild,” Mr Pedersen said.
“There are several hundreds in conservation, we’re building a stock so they don’t become extinct.”
Wild foxes and traffic has impacted the reintroduction of quolls to the mainland at Booderee.
“We’ve had quite a few losses, but that was to be expected,” Mr Maple said.
World Environment Day is the United Nations’ most important day for encouraging worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment.
