The dawn service, led by Bomaderry RSL president Bob O’Grady, was short and sharp but set the scene for what would be a special day.
One of the highlights of the service was a New Zealand member of the crowd coming forward to the microphone to sing the national anthem.
Just hours later the crowd again gathered for the traditional morning march and service.
Bunberra and Meroo streets were lined with large crowds, while at the cenotaph at Walsh Park it was standing room only.
Lieutenant Commander Linton “Dixie” Lee from HMAS Albatross gave the address, followed by the traditional wreath laying.
For the first time ever the Bomaderry service had its own choir with members of the Shoalhaven Community Choir performing hymns.
