Jack Boothman, 21, did not enter any pleas to charges of indecent assault and damaging property before Magistrate Gabriel Fleming in Nowra Local Court on Tuesday and was directed to seek legal advice.
Boothman was a passenger on a bus travelling from the Bomaderry Railway Station, heading for Kiama Railway Station between 11pm and 11.40pm on January 23 when the alleged assault happened.
It is alleged he approached the woman and touched her breasts.
The bus driver contacted police and the bus was pulled over a short time later on the Princes Highway, near the Kiama exit.
Boothman is also charged with damaging property after allegedly damaging the caged area of a police vehicle at Albion Park Rail around 11.45pm.
He will reappear in court on March 26.
