The leadership group will work in close conjunction with the senior coaching staff and Wolves management to ensure the club, as a whole, has the best representation possible and continues to maintain and enhance its position as the premier representative football club for the Illawarra and South Coast.
“As a club we are really taking great strides on the field and off the field and I felt now was the ideal time to expand our leadership and take full advantage of the experience and passion of some of our senior players,” Timpano said.
“They have been there and done that in terms of very successful football careers and will add significantly in the guidance of our young players coming through.”
Chris Price continues to hold the reigns as club captain, proudly representing the Wolves as he has over the last four years as captain and will be joined by assistant coach and player Nick Montgomery and long term goalkeeper Justin Pasfield.
Price, a Milton Panthers junior, Pasfield and Montgomery form the ideal combination in using their experiences to mentor and guide and further build on the existing culture throughout the entire club.
“Chris Price knows exactly what is required to come from a small community on the South Coast and make his mark, long term at the Wolves,” Timpano said.
“Justin [Pasfield] has played in the A-League and overseas and has enjoyed a remarkable, successful career again over a long period of time starting off at the local fields in Lake Heights.
“[Nick] Montgomery’s record and achievements speak for themselves and what he has achieved in the game has been amazing.
“These three are exactly the type of footballers, people and characters we want and need to ensure all those players representing our club, right from the under 9s through to and including first grade, know what it means to play for the Wolves and represent our region.”
The leadership group will be included across all aspect of the football operations of the Wollongong Wolves including all senior, junior and SAP teams.
They will work closely with all players, senior coaches and junior coaches and liaise regularly with club technical director Neil Mann to deliver another level of communication ensuring the Wolves maintain a truly inclusive and holistic structure where the transition through each age group and squad is seamless and effective.
“Being able to fully utilise the passion and knowledge of our leadership group gives us an extra dimension in regards to utilising three distinctly different leadership styles, personalities and experiences which will prove very useful to every single player in our club, giving them insights to fully maximise their football potential and future,” Timpano said.
