This race was to be a 42-kilometre handicap on the Braidwood Road course.
Along with heavy rain and poor visibility there was gravel being washed across the road in places along the route. Under the conditions approved by the relevant authorities, racing on the local roads is not to proceed in poor or extreme weather.
The 2018 Optus Team series will now start with a road race on March 11.
Many riders are keen to get into this year’s series where all teams have strong squads with new members signed up and other members transferring their allegiances for this season.
The Nowra Velo Club will continue local racing next Sunday with graded criteriums on the Albatross Aviation Tech Park, starting at 8.30am.
The rostered officials for this event are the Allen Price and Scarratts team.
