
Sheza Danza ($8) might not have been favourite to win, but she defied the odds and stormed home to take out the Selby’s Earthmoving Maiden Handicap over 1100 metres at Shoalhaven City Turf Club on Sunday.

Trained by Shoalhaven Heads’ Terry Robinson, the four-year-old mare broke her maiden at here fourth attempt for an elated group of owners, who were unable to contain their excitement as she crossed the finish line.
Ridden by Scott Pollard, the jockey speared the mare to the front of the field from a wide barrier 12 and managed put a three length gap on the rest of the pack by the home turn.
A late charging Fleeting Princess looked like it might upset the apple cart in the home straight as the pair battled it out in the final stages, but Sheza Danza proved to strong for her counterparts, securing a ¾ length win over Fleeting Princess second and Lacasa Maria Rosa almost five lengths away third.

The next race meeting at Archer Racecourse is scheduled for February 27.
