Members, you need to practice your rain dancing to try and get some more of the wet stuff so we don’t lose anymore of our fairways. The preferred lies, though necessary for ease of play only increase the bare patches. Prodigious use of sand in divots will help, but lots of rain is needed. Tony Fitzpatrick was the one to thank for sponsoring Saturday’s Single Stableford. Many thanks for you continued support of golf at NGC. Graeme Wrightson stepped up for a piece of the spoils with an impressive 43 pts for first place in ‘A’ grade. Roger Hardy was good for second with a solid 40 pts and Craig Crump only needed 36 pts to make third. Long drive went to Roger H.

Country Club St George’s Basin Women

Friday 16th was an ideal day for our first par round of the season. Champion Deb Weeks playing off 6,showed her skills with a minus one to win division one. The count back was needed to separate Vicki Diefenbach from Judi Nethery , who was the unlucky one this time, on just minus 2. Division 2 was taken out by Myra Kara from Kerry Coulter, both all square with the card. Diane Mcivor was third with minus 1. Helen Davison was the only player in the field to better par. Well done Helen with your plus 2. Second in third division was Catherine Hayward with a square result. Good to see Catherine in the winners’ circle after her long, enforced rest. Consistent Jan Wong was third in that division.
NTP shots were won by Lynn Ellis, division 1, Vicki Critcher division 2 and Catherine Hayward division 3. Balls went to -3. It was very pleasing to have a field of forty for this round.
President Dell welcomed representatives from the hospital renal unit to our presentation on Friday when she handed over a cheque for $1750, proceeds of our Charity day last year. We were interested in hearing how we can help preserve our kidney health. Thank you.
Thank you to all the players who have indicated they are keen to represent our club in Pennants this year. The experience of playing for our club on different courses will improve your golf. And meeting players from other clubs is also very worthwhile socially.
Our annual Joy Reed match play competition against Sussex Inlet is all square at the moment, with our home round to play. The next away game is the committee day to be held at Jamberoo on 26 th February. Good golfing, and keep drinking lots of water.
