Group Seven products named in Illawarra Steelers’ round one sides

Three of Group Seven’s top prospects have been named in the Illawarra Steelers SG Ball side to take on the Western Suburbs Magpies.

Milton-Ulladulla’s Tarje Whitford has been named to start at five-eighth. while Warilla-Lake South’s Blake Dowel (second-row) and Samuel Hooper (interchange) are also in the squad – which is coached by Matt O’Brien (Kiama) and Jono Dalls (Jamberoo).

The match, kicking-off at 5.15pm Saturday, will be played as a curtain-raiser to the Hull FC vs Wigan English Super League clash at WIN Stadium.

Group Seven will also be represented in the Steelers Harold Mattews squad, with Riley Wooden (Milton-Ulladulla), Joshua Coric (Albion Park-Oak Flats), Harley Nizza (Albion Park-Oak Flats) and Cooper Tunbridge (Albion Park-Oak Flats) all named in the round one squad to take on the Wetsern Suburbs Magpies at Ron Costello Oval from 11.30am on Saturday.

In the Tarsha Gale (under 18s) women’s Steelers side, Group Seven will be represented by Rhiannon Brown (Bomaderry), Dakotah Mannering (Bomaderry) and Hannah England (Batemans Bay/Milton-Ulladulla) – when they battle the Parramatta Eels from 10am at Ron Costello Oval.
