THREE of Shoalhaven’s top young cricketers – Drew Ramsden (Ulladulla United), Lachlan Malcolm (Batemans Bay) and Alec Dobson (Berry-Shoalhaven Heads) – have all excelled at the recent under 13s state challenge in Dubbo.

Playing for the Country Thunder Southern, from January 22-25, the talented trio helped their side win three of the five games they played.
Southern opened their tournament with a win against City Sixers East – who posted 7/132 from their 40 overs, with Drew Ramsden taking two catches and causing one stumping.
In reply, 61 not out from Dobson steered the Southern side to 1/134 in the 36th over for victory.
The trio lost their second match to Country Sixers CC/Newcastle (1/60 to 7/58), with Dobson scoring eight not out, Ramsden scoring one not out and Malcolm being dismissed for a duck.
The team rebounded in their third match, defeating City Thunder South (5/66 to 6/65), with Malcolm taking 1/12, one catch and making 18 not out, with Alec Dobson scoring 13.
In the trio’s fourth game, the team fell to Country Sixers Northern (5/151 to 5/150).
During this match, Ramsden scored zero, Dobson totalled 20 not out and Lachlan Malcolm finished with 2/27.
Southern finished off their tournament with a win against Country Sixers CC/Newcastle.
Ramsden (16), Dobson (21) and Malcolm (one) all helped their side reach 7/101 before reducing their rivals to 9/95 – with Ramsden and Dobson taking one catch each.
