The trio, who train out of the Oak Flats Gymnastics club, will represent Australia for the first time, in the senior women’s trio category, from April 13-15.
“To be selected, we went through a selection process where we competed over 12 months including three separate national squad trials, where we need a qualifying score to be selected in the national squad,” Doosey said.
“Once we were selected in the national squad, after also receiving the worlds qualifying score, we were selected on the team.
“This has been a goal since all of us started acrobatics many years ago – so achieving it at the highest level possible is amazing.”
While in Belgium, the team will compete in three different routines, including balancing skills and dynamic, which includes flips and throws before finishing off with a combination of the previous two routines.
“We are aiming to do the best we can and beat our previous scores held in Australia.
“Hopefully we can perform well enough to make it into finals.”
Doosey, who expects the toughest competition to come from Russia, Great Britain and Belarus, said this was the highest achievement the trio has had in their career to date.
“Prior to this, our top achievements included competing in Las Vegas in April 2017, where we placed sixth overall and fourth in finals,” she said.
“We were also national champions in June 2017 and have been undefeated in Australia in other competitions.”
Doosey (21), Farquhar (24) and Moore (14) train five days a week, for up to 20 hours a week with coaches Shelby Lacey (Australia) and Kim Lacey (Oak Flats).
“Without them, we wouldn’t have been able to achieve what we have,” Doosey said.
“To have a senior group, it’s as much a commitment for the coaches as it is the athletes, as they are there with us every step along the way.
“They have motivated us when we needed it and celebrated with us in success.”
