Melanie decided on a complete recreation, and “Carols in the Bay” was born.
From the outset, Mel had big ideas and an event for the entire community in her sights.
Starting with just a handful of performers, the weeks leading up to the event saw it grow to a “festival” of sorts.
With 31 stall holders booked in for twilight markets, the Nowra Town Band set the mood playing Christmas carols and an awesome array of foods were on offer.
The kids were kept amused with two huge jumping castles, thanks to Happy Feet Jumping Castles Shoalhaven, and face painting by Australia’s crowned number one face and body painter, Kel McKilwain.
Thanks to sponsorship of local businesses, Mel was able to ensure that families got maximum enjoyment without a big outlay, with the jumping castles being free and face painting just a gold coin donation.
The 30+ performers kicked of carols at 6:30pm, with something from every genre to please every generation. People were up dancing away and waving their candles with delight.
