Peak summer season is always a busy time on the Shoalhaven’s coastal villages and another busy time is expected.
Patrols commenced at South Mollymook in early December while Shoalhaven Heads, Crookhaven (North Culburra), Tilbury, and Cudmirrah, Warraine, Narrawallee, and North Mollymook will all be staffed by lifeguards.
Service dates range from five-days-a-week through to seven-days a week with patrols continuing until late January.
In addition volunteer lifesavers will be patrolling weekends and public holidays ensuring that there will be plenty of eyes on the surf and sand throughout the summer months should people get into difficulty while enjoying all that the coast has to offer.
ALS NSW Operations Manager Oliver Munson said lifeguards as always will be focusing on ensuring the safety of the beach-going public.
“This year we will be continuing to emphasise preventative actions on the part of our lifeguards to ensure that potentially dangerous situations are dealt with before they escalate,” he said.
“This could include such actions as encouraging swimmers to swim between the flags and identifying hazards that could impact on beachgoers safety.
“Unfortunately the recent drownings across the state have reinforced just how dangerous the ocean can be. It is why we continue to push our education messages because we want everyone to enjoy their time at the beach safely.

Shoalhaven Heads now to 27/01/2018
Crookhaven (North Culburra) now to 28/01/2018
Tilbury (South Culburra) now to 28/01/2018
Warraine now to 25/01/2018
Cudmirrah now to 28/01/2018
Narrawallee now to 25/01/2016
North Mollymook now to 25/01/2017
South Mollymook now to 2/03/2018
