The Berry Showgrounds were host to the family friendly Fairgrounds Festival on Friday and Saturday, and Sydneysiders in their hundreds made a weekend of it.
ARIA winning Gang of Youths headlined on Friday, living up to their name getting great reviews, and international act Future Islands stole the show.
“They were genuine entertainers, sensational,” festival-goer Alexie Hamilton said.
“Definitely the highlight for me, they danced and talked to the crowd.”
The rain poured down, only adding to the atmosphere of the show – the crowd stayed and danced.
There were no dark clouds to be seen on Saturday, and music lovers sought shade, or brought their own.
A couple, who came from the Gold Coast to their first festival last year – Fairgrounds – returned, and said it was definitely worth the trip.
Sydneysiders Diablo Smith and Steph Patch were enjoying the low key atmosphere of the festival.
“There are no dickheads,” Diablo said.
“Just a really good vibe, kind of family friendly, and not too tweenie.”
The record store was a hit, as people sifted through records to find a gem, kids played on the carnival rides, and local vendors set up food stalls, providing plenty of culinary options.
