Future of John Purcell House Nowra

Nowra and the Shoalhaven has a homelessness problem and work has been ongoing to help address the issue.

We talk to  St Vincent de Paul Society's John Purcell House Accommodation Team Leader David Simister about some exciting news - see video below.

Big homelessness announcement

When men come to John Purcell House they will be given great help and support.

The aim is to get men off the streets and find them a permanent place to live.

Dave Simister talks about the process and how it all works – see video below.

The $3.3 million men’s crisis accommodation centre was opened in June 2014 and the 17-bed complex replaced an old 10-bed complex but did not stay open for long.

Due to safety concerns with the building the hostel was closed in November 2015 but at last things are moving.

A great investment has been made, including have a training room aimed at getting men back on their feet – see video below.
