Students from years three to six were treated to a visit from Cooper Martin, a year 12 student at Bomaderry High School.
Cooper had a falls from his skateboard last year and sustained a brain injury.
He spent three months recovering from his injuries in a Sydney hospital before he could return home to his family.
Speaking before a very interested young audience, Cooper shared the impact the injury has had on his life, and on his family.
Following Cooper’s talk, the students strapped on their helmets and took their scooters or skateboards for a spin. They learned the various aspects of safety on their wheels.
Bomaderry Public School teacher Mr Young organised the day and it is now planned to be an annual event at the school.
Most importantly, the students who participated have agreed to ‘Cooper’s Promise’ and will always wear a helmet when riding their bike, skateboard or scooter.
