Athletes from 11 team sports as well as individual athletes and two para-athletes were presented with awards.
Athletes from AFL, basketball, cricket, hockey, netball, rugby league, rugby union, soccer, squash, touch football and volleyball were presented with awards, as were individual and team efforts recognised in swimming, cross-country and athletics.
Special guest presenters at the all school assembly included former St George Illawarra NRL player and now Dragon ambassador Matt Cooper, South Coast AFL development officer Greg Stephenson and Shoalhaven Basketball State League men’s captain Ben Morris.

14 years Boys Regional Athletics Age Champion - Alex O’Brien.
Nowra High also won the Shoalhaven participation award for the first time.
Most Outstanding Para-Athlete
Girls - Karlee Symonds - Recipient of the Queen Elizabeth Trophy Para-athlete athletics 2017; Para-athlete T11 15 and under 100m CHS record; Para-athlete T11 15 and under 200m CHS record; Para-athlete T11 under 16, under 18, under 20 800m CHS and Australian record.
Boys - Brock Miller.
The 2017 Nowra High School Sporting Blues were also announced with Lara Check, Alex O’Brien, Karlee Symonds, Mikayla Check, Lisa Horner, Leigh Hucheson and Breanna O’Donnell recognised.
The 2017 Premier’s Sporting Challenge Medal which recognises one student at each school for their outstanding commitment to fair play and overall contribution to sport, was presented to Alicia Sleeman.
In the school inter-house sports competitions Sturt was the overall winner of the swimming carnival and Hume the athletics carnival.
