Shoalhaven City Toastmasters Club has been meeting for eight years and is in a period of growth, looking for new members and competing throughout the region.
Under the stewardship of Darrell, the club offers unlimited opportunities for personal and professional advancement based on improved development and exposure to proven communication techniques.
“I really want to make the people feel comfortable in attending and being confident in speaking,” Darrell said.
Darrell has been involved with Toastmasters for two years and said it provides him with a chance to share positive experiences with others, learn, meet new people and compliment work life balance.
“I work part time in the Defense Force as a trainer, so being part of toastmasters has given me the opportunity to learn to be a better leader, a better speaker and most importantly gain greater communications skills in an enjoyable and supported environment,” he said.
The club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of each month at Shoalhaven City Council Chambers from 1pm-2pm and in the evening from 7pm-9pm at Shoalhaven Ex-Servicemen’s Club on the fourth Wednesday of each month. All welcome.
The club provides a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self confidence and personal growth.
“The meetings are held in a structured manner, ensuring everyone gets an opportunity to stand up and speak with topics known well in advance, allowing plenty of time to prepare,” Darrell said.
