Starting on Monday night, motorists looking to drive up or down Cambewarra Mountain will be detoured along Kangaroo Valley Road, adding 15 minutes to the trip.
Long vehicles (more than 7.5m) and trucks (more than 12 tonnes) will be detoured via Jamberoo Road, Macquarie Pass or Picton Road, adding around 90 minutes of travel time.
The road will be closed from 8pm to 5am from:
- August 14-17 (Monday-Thursday)
- August 20-24 (Sunday-Thursday)
- August 27-31 (Sunday to Thursday)
Traffic will also be disrupted during the day and on weekends, with single lane closures and traffic alternated through the work site.
Motorists have been advised to plan their trip, allow extra travel time and follow the direction of traffic control and all signs, including detours.
The state government will spend $400,000 on “important repair work” to the road.
Work will involve repairing the slope at three locations after storm damage as well as routine maintenance
