Mercy Ships is a global charity that has operated hospital ships in developing nations since 1978, bringing hope and healing to the forgotten poor by mobilising people and resources worldwide, serving all people without regard for race, gender or religion.

During the ship’s stay in the port of Douala, Republic of Cameroon, Mercy Ships plans to provide life-changing surgeries for adult and child patients onboard, to treat patients at land-based dental and eye clinics, and provide much needed healthcare training to Cameroon healthcare workers.
Mercy Ship’s goals
Improve the quality of life for patients suffering from maxillofacial deformities through life-saving and life-changing surgeries.
Improve the quality of life for patients suffering from severe burns and other plastic reconstructive needs through life-changing surgeries, with the aim to restore function.
Improve the quality of life for patients suffering from cataracts, pterygiums, and other vision impairments through life-changing surgeries.
Improve the quality of life for patients suffering from obstetric fistula, uterine prolapse, and other gynecological conditions through life-changing surgeries and treatment.
Improve the quality of life for patients suffering from orthopedic deformities and neglected trauma through life-changing surgeries, with the aim to restore function.
Provide surgeries for patients affected by general surgical conditions, such as hernias and thyroid goiters, and soft tissue tumors.
Provide counseling for patients and their families with potential emotional and mental scarring as a result of their condition.
