The first Winter Arts Festival will be held from Friday, June 9 and will run until Sunday, June 11.
With an art exhibition, a sand sculpture competition, painting demonstrations and more, organiser Lauren Sams said there will be no shortage of activities.
“Everyone gets a bit quiet over winter down here, so I thought having a creative outlet would be good for the community and I’ve had great support already,” she said.
The opening night will be held from 6pm on Friday, June 9 at the Callala Beach Community Hall.
A glass of bubbles will be offered on arrival, with live music and canapes to follow. An art display by the students at Callala Public School will be on show and raffle tickets will be available, with all proceeds going to the school.
The exhibition and sales will continue on Saturday, June 10 and Sunday, June 11 from 10am to 3pm at the Callala Beach Community Hall.
A free sand sculpture competition will kick off at 11am on Saturday and judging will get underway at 2.30pm.
Coffee and food vans will be on site to make sure no-one goes hungry, and face painting is set to keep the little ones happy.
A ‘found object’ beach sculpture exhibition will be held on Sunday, June 11. Participants are encouraged to start working on their pieces and register as soon as possible to artbylaurensams@outlook.com
The winner will walk away with a $50 cash prize.
Local artist Carol Black will host a painting demonstration from 10am and the raffle will be drawn by 1pm. The raffle prize include holiday accommodation near the snow, donated by a local resident.
