The court heard John Stanley Craig, 40, was seen by police driving in a northerly direction on Clipper Road on March 17 this year.
He allegedly turned onto Kalandar Street, with officers eventually stopping him when he pulled into the East Nowra service station.
Officers said he had “glazed eyes, slurred speech and his actions were slow”.
A breath test returned a positive result and he later recorded a reading of 0.162.
Craig told officers he had consumed three schooners and two stubbies of beer in the preceding hours.
In Nowra Local Court on Monday, Magistrate Gabriel Fleming disqualified Craig from driving for six months and ordered he perform 120 hours community service.
