With a contingent of just 12 rowers, the club came away with six crews in first place, three crews in second, three crews in third positions and an additional 16 crews that competed and finished in minor placings.
Coach Andrew Parry was delighted to see that the hard training schedule he had set over the months prior was showing in the athlete’s performance on the water.
Rowers Katrina Davis and Bronwyn Opferkuch were able to defend their crowns from last year in their selected events.
Dwain Boon and Dean Watts combined for a great race in the men’s B grade (36-43) double scull which culminated in a photo finish, which they won by a bow ball (approx.4cm) to take silver.
Dave Holcroft and Tony Weaver combined in the men’s C grade (43-49) double scull for a fine performance finishing sixth in the final.
Linda Eddington and Simone Jones rowed into fourth place in the woman’s E Grade (50-54) double scull final.
Their 60 and over club member Rick McAlister also had outstanding personal performances in his single scull achieving personal bests.
Club president and rowing stalwart David Eddington was absolutely stoked that the Eddington clan (wife Linda and daughter Peta) could combine for the first time in various events and create a bit of club history.
The Eddington’s competed in the following events: mix C grade 2x Dad and Peta (first), women’s C grade 2x Mum and Peta (third) and the D grade Mix 4x Dad, Mum, Peta and ably assisted by (the weaver weapon) Tony Weaver as the fourth crew member (first).
