The Huskisson and Jervis Bay Food Network will host a ‘weekend of feasting and tasting’ from Friday, May 19 to Sunday, May 21.
Restaurants and cafes across the Jervis Bay region are set to open their doors outside of normal trading hours and host themed food experiences.
A pop-up market of food, art and music in the Club Jervis Bay car park will also kick-off on Saturday night.
One of the event organisers, Di Laver said the event will feature something for everyone.
“It’s a community event for family and friends and it’s so lovely to see that all of the food industries have embraced this and they’re all running very different events,” she said.
“The whole idea of the food network is to identify Huskisson as a great food destination 12 months of the year.”
Di started the Huskisson and Jervis Bay Food Network 18 months ago, after realising she hadn’t lost her passion for the hospitality industry, even after retirement.
“I was head teacher of hospitality at TAFE and I went from full on position to retirement so it was my way of still being involved and fulfilling my passion for hospitality,” she said.
The group has monthly meetings and are about to launch a website, which will showcase a calendar of restaurant events throughout the year.
Di said the group’s mission is to host two to three events each year to highlight the diversity of culinary expertise in the community and showcase the variety of regional produce available.
To book any of the restaurant events or for more information, see Huskisson Jervis Bay Food Network Inc on Facebook. Restaurants involved are listed on the page and can be contacted directly for bookings.
