To mark the occasions, like in previous years, the club will be wearing special jersey and raising funds for a much needed cause.
After last year’s successful initiative, that saw them raise more than $2,000 for Livin Foundation, first grade head coach Jono Dallas said the whole club was excited to again do their part.
“Each year, we run a day like we will on Saturday and choose a worthy charity to raise funds for, which is particularly relevant to the club at the time,” Dallas said.
“This year we have chosen Charlie Teo’s Cure Brain Cancer Foundation.
“At the club, we have three brothers, Mitch, Reece and Brad Conley, who have been part of the club since 2011, going through a tough time at the moment, with a family member battling brain cancer.
“With this unfortunately being the case, it acted as a catalyst to the club choosing this wonderful foundation to support important members of our club.
“It also is a cause that is close to my heart, with both Ben Jones and my wives being operated on by Charlie Teo a number of years ago.
“On top of that, he has also operated on the father of Superoo Tom McLackland – so the club has strong ties to the Foundation.”
All of Jamberoo’s four grades will have the opportunity to buy their special jerseys on the day, with all proceeds going towards the Foundation.
“On top of the jerseys, we will have a promotional tent set up where people can donate, buy pins and wristbands and purchase raffle tickets,” Dallas said.
“Being the only Group 7 first grade fixture scheduled for the day, we are hoping for a big turnout.”
The day will kick-off with third grade’s opening match of the season against the Albion Park Outlaws at 10.45am, before the women’s league tag team take on Milton-Ulladulla at 12.15pm.
Reserve grade will then take on the Bulldogs at 1.15pm before first grade kicks-off at 2.45pm.
“In terms of the match, it feels like we are starting the season over again, with it being three weeks since we played Kiama,” Dallas said.
“Against the Knights, I wasn’t too concerned with how we played, I just wanted to get the result.
“With no pre-season games possible, as well an an interrupted training schedule, our preparations wasn’t ideal.
“But now we had a number of good sessions and are feeling more confident with our team.
“We know it’s going to be a tough game, as the Bulldogs have played well in both of their matches, despite splitting their opening two clashes.
“All the boys are looking forward to the challenge and the day as a whole.”
