The workshop will be run for seven days from Tuesday, March 28 and provides an opportunity for the community to receive hands-on instructions on how to build homes with straw bale walls, protected with lime and clay render.
“This method of construction is fast becoming very popular due to the incredible insulation properties of straw and the health benefits of protecting your home with lime and clay renders,” Strawtec office manager Sand Broome said.
“Homes made from these materials are known to save up to 90 per cent on their energy bills as there is little requirement to heat or cool due to the insulation properties.
“Needless to say these workshops are really well received by Australians with environmental and financial concerns.”
Over the course of the seven day workshop participants will help a homeowner in the construction of their house while they gain hands-on experience and knowledge of straw bale construction methods.
“The second objective of the workshop is to assist the home owner to build their home in super quick time with this “working bee” kind of approach,” Sand said.
The workshop will be held at 77f Nerringillah Rd, Bendalong, from 8am Tuesday, March 28 to 5pm Monday, April 3.
Participants are encouraged to attend the workshop for the full seven days, however they are able to attend for one to two days if preferred.
