THE Figtree Kangaroos won this year’s Tom Smith Lightning Cup, after defeating hosts Nowra Albatross in the final.
To get to the final, the Vikings defeated both Dapto 7.3 (45) to 0.0 (0) and Port Kembla 3.6 (24) to 0.0 (0) in their pool A encounters.
In the final pool A encounter, Port Kembla defeated Dapto 9.6 (60) to 1.0 (6).
In pool B, Figtree won both of their games to porgress to the final.
They first defeated Bomaderry 5.4 (34) to 2.3. (15) before backing it uo against South West Sydney 7.1 (45) to 3.3 (21).
Bomaderry won the final pool B clash 6.3 (39) to 0.2 (2) against South West Sydney.
South Coast AFL teams will now finalise their pre-season preparations ahead of the season kick-off on April 1.
The Vikings will host cross-town rivals Bomaderry in the opening round, with reserves start at 12.30pm, before first grade at 2.15pm.
