After winning the toss at Sanctuary Point Oval, the visitors decided to bat first and declared at the strong total of 7/249 from 60 overs.
Opener Duncan Maddinson led to way with 65, while Dale Lovatt (60), Lachlan Maddinson (42), Glenn Brandon (36) and Chris McCarron (34) all chipped in with handy knocks.
With the cherry, Basin’s top bowler was David Rickwood, who claimed 3/34, as Liam O'Brien finished with 2/38.
The other two wickets were split between Callum Franchi and Darren O'Keefe.
In response, Basin ended the day at 1/45.
Santino Battagliolo looked in great touch before being dismissed by Tom Dougall and caught by Glenn Brandon for 27. When day two resumes, Franchi will continue his innings on 16.
