Fire and Rescue crews were alerted to the fire on Bolong Road at 7.30pm on Friday night.
“Due to the quick action from the firefighters who gained access into the area, it only took an hour to get the fire under control and another hour to fully extinguish it with only minor disruption to production at the plant, which was a great result,” Fire and Rescue Captain John Dun said.
Thirty Firefighters responded from as far away as Kiama.
“Because of the risks involved we needed to get as many firefighters there as we could, they can only spend 20 minutes at a time in a confined space, that’s why it was very difficult,” Captain Dun said.
“We knew it was going to be a very difficult job with such a big plant with minimal room, it was quite a job.
“It was very very good work Fire and Rescue NSW.”
An investigation is under way to determine the cause of the fire.
