The Vets at Nowra Golf Club had to be short of a couple of sheep in the top paddock as they all went out and played in those horrific conditions last Tuesday. Talk about love the game! It was the Les Wilson Memorial Day and that always has his ‘Putting Comp’ as the highlight. We managed to round up 68 in total with the odd visitor. It was great to have our Donny Sawers get around with only 26 pts and he pipped Rod Elliott from The Heads on c/b. Well done Don!
Members played a mystery 4 Persons Team Stableford and the lucky winners were Linda Trusler, Col. Darley, Cliff Weatherill and Bill Rigney on 145 pts. The runners-up were John Winspear, Tony Hunter, Phil Tucker and Gloria Davis on 139 pts. Balls ran out at 129 pts on c/b.
The NTP’s for the blokes at the 4th went to John Winspear, the 8th and ‘Jackpot’ to Rod Elliott. Bob Martin was good for the 12th and Graham Napper was closest at the 16th. For the girls at the 4th there was Ange Boadle, the 8th was a ‘no-show’, Sue Stephens was good for the 12th and Jenny Brown was closest at the 16th. A big ‘Congrats’ to Tony Hunter for the ‘Eagle 2’ at the 13th.
Wednesday saw some remarkable scores come off a very dry track. The mid-week Stableford hosted two grades and the extra run would have made scoring easier. The greens although covered in a lot of debris from all the wind, were putting very true.
Tony Johnston brought in an awesome 43 pts in ‘A’ grade for the win. Pete Marynowsky and John Underwood shared second and third on c/b with their 41 pts. In ‘B’ grade Peter Courtney had a dream round knocking up a remarkable 44 pts to easily account for ‘B’ grade. Ross Tooley was in form with a 42 for second and Jimmy Brown made third with his 40 pts. Balls ran out at 38 pts on c/b.
The NTP’s at the 4th went to Peter Hyam, the 8th to Lance Worboys and Jimmy Brown was good for the 12th. The drive/pitch 13th went to Tony Johnston.
We can thank Ted Downes of Dymocks Nowra for sponsoring Saturday’s Single Stableford with a 2 Person Stableford Multiplier in conjunction. The winners of the Multiplier with 96 pts were Skipper Col Lott and Craig Crump. Runners-up were John and Peter Courtney with 95 pts.
The ‘A’ grade winner with 42 pts was Craig Crump. Ted Downes made second with 40 pts and Martin Daly was good for third with a solid 39 pts. The big scores came in ‘B’ grade with Tim O’Shea having one of his super rounds. Tim has managed an awesome 45 pts for first in ‘B’ grade. Pete Calvert was good for second with 41 pts and Mick Butler featured with 39 pts for third. ‘C’ grade was dominated by the Courtneys. John was good for first with his 42 pts Howie Mitchell managed second with his 41 pts and Peter C. got up for third with 39 pts. Balls ran out at 37 pts.
The NTP’s at the 4th went to Dennis Davis, the 8th to Keith Rosskelly, Ted Downes put it in for an ‘ACE’ at the 12th and John Hatchman was closest at the 16th. The long drives in grade order were Craig Crump, Neil Dinnie and Gordon Lymbery. The drive/pitch at the 11th went to Maurie Bruce, the 7th to Ken Wills and the 13th to Gordon Lymbery. Congrats to Ted Downes for the ‘Ace’ at the 12th.
A special day on Sunday when the old Sunday golf was alive and well. Thanks to the efforts of Dennis and Gloria Davis ably assisted by Linda and Derek Trusler and some willing help from other members that made the day a huge success.
It was an Open 2 Person Ambrose and with the extra prizes, it seemed that if you played you got something. The main winners were Gloria Davis and Ben Taylor on 59 and ½ nett. Robyn Moore and Neil Dinnie were next with a 61 nett. Third went to Sandra England and Pete Dalmazzo on 63 and 3/4 nett. There were minor prizes down to 8th place, so a lot of happy golfers. Ball rundown went to 67 and ½ nett.
The NTP’s at the 4th went to Rod Elliott, the 8th to Linda Weatherill, Ian Hayes-Williams was good for the 16th and the drive/pitch 13th to Mark McClellan. That’s it. Take care, JH

St Georges Basin Women's Golf
Numbers were down on Friday possibly because of the anticipated heat, or, the previous days festivities may have been a contributing factor. Those who did front up are trying to get it all in before we break next Friday for our Christmas recess.
Prizes for the best decorated people and gear next week before our picnic lunch. We're expecting everyone to need their sunnies.
Some players succumbed to the heat and withdrew to drink lots of water. Jenny Noden had 36 points to win division 1. R/U was
Jenny Hartman on 35 then Denise Campbell with 33. Division 2 was won by Vicki Diefenbach from Judi Nethery both with 36 points then consistent Gloria Ardouin on 32. Chris Black had the day's best score of 39 to win division 3. Jan Wong was R / U with 31 then
Sue Mc Carthy on 30 points. NTP s went to Denise Campbell and Dell Buckley. Division 3 will jackpot next week.
Las Vegas ambrose for our final game of the year. Have fun everyone.
WWPSWC
We had eight of our members turn up at the Vincentia Course, this was after a couple of days and nights of rain.
The rain was a big help to the golf course, with the fairways and greens in top condition.
All this worked well for Rocket Ron, as he came home with 21 points for the nine holes, a great game of golf was played by him.
Next was BB with 15 points and Skeeter with 12 points, the rest of us struggled hard to even get double figures. BB also won the nearest the pin on the 9th.
We also had a discussion about Captain versus President and not having played for the trophy during the year, so we decided to settle it by a shuffle of the score cards and the Captain being the winner of the draw. The President didn’t stand a chance of winning it, as he drew his own card amongst the draw and he only had six points for the game.
Next week we are at the Country Club hit off at 7.45 am.
