Commander Aksel Primdahl led the Danish contingent to Nowra to learn from the RAN’s experience of operating the MH-60R Maritime Combat Helicopter.
Denmark is the second foreign nation to purchase the aircraft and is keen to learn about the Australian experience of operating the aircraft and successfully integrating it into the surface fleet.
The Danish order for nine aircraft will be completed in 2018 and will be used to defend Danish interests in the North Atlantic and during international deployments.
A tour of the HATS facilities was an opportunity to research the training inputs to MH-60R for pilots, aviation warfare officers and aircrewmen from the navy.
They also to get an insight into the joint training that HATS will do with the Australian Army for its pilots and aircrewmen.
The Danes were certainly impressed by the new buildings and systems that were handed over less than a week before ready for instructor training to start in January 2017.
The EC-135 training helicopter is already a common sight over Nowra skies and is now backed up with state of the art facilities that include three full flight simulators and a number of aircrew aircraft and tactical synthetic trainers.
The first army and navy students will start training in January 2018.
