His drone footage of his father’s homeland, Slovenia, which was taken on a family trip with his wife and two daughters in 2015, has now reached more than 1,330,895 people and registered over half a million views.
“We've loved being able to showcase the beauty of Slovenia to so many people around the globe,” Dee’s wife, Kath Freeman said.
“Dee’s father was touched and quite blown away when he saw it. Slovenia is a small country and not very well known. With the drone video it is easy to share the beauty of this country.
Slovenia borders Croatia, Italy and Austria and one of the features of the footage has been the abillty to see the small country from a completely different perspective.
“The drone footage really speaks to people,” Kath said.
Before he was a photographer Dee Kramer was always interested in the sky and was training to become a pilot in 2000 when he first picked up an SLR camera.
During his career he has shot from a variety of aircraft to try and get that perfect image in many iconic locations.
Landscape photography has always been his passion and his idea for utilising drones in his photography was a great way to capture unique imagery of locations in a way they had never been seen before.
He has custom built his own drone and the images he has been able to capture have attracted enormous interest on social media.
The Above Down Under Facebook page has already attracted more than 6000 likes since it started and one image series posted of Jervis Bay recently had a reach of more than 500,000 people.
‘’My concept has always been to capture a unique perspective that people generally can’t get to see,’’ he said.
Combining his love of flying with photography has renewed his passion.
“I am getting to combine my two passions. It has all really ignited my passion again. I feel excited to get up before the sunrise and get out and capture something differently. It is just so interesting learning the art of it.’’
