Southern U17 girls travelled to the Central Coast for a catch-up fixture on Saturday. The girls were in good spirits after some fine recent performances. The forwards wreaked havoc and were unlucky not to score on many occasions. The second half saw much of the same but unfortunately Southern could not score. It finished 0-0 and felt like two points thrown away.

Sunday saw the 17's having to back up, this time against the table toppers Northern Tigers. An even faster game than the previous day saw the Tigers attack with pace and strength, but the Southern defence held strong again and counter attacked brilliantly. The second half was much the same as the first with conflicting styles: fast and furious Tigers versus a creative Southern outfit. Eventually, Jazmine Zabel made the breakthrough with a captain’s goal leading to joyous celebrations.
Southern held out for their most successful win of the season, one which has been on the cards for the last few weeks.
