The match of the round in the Shoalhaven Senior Football competition is between Shoalhaven Heads and Illaroo. Heads started the year on fire with a big win over Huskisson but have not won since. They have been competitive in their games and coach Brad Banks feels their next win is not far away. He will be looking for good performances from Roy Miller, Iain Martin, Matt White and Chris Agar.

Illaroo’s form has been similar to Heads as they have not won since the first round. Illaroo coach Andrew Timbs would have expected better after their great performance against United. He will be looking to Aaron Crittenden, Evan Leedham, Alex Cheyne, Slade Small and Sam Leedham to be at their best. This should be a close match between two evenly match sides and a draw would not be a surprise result.
Culburra will host Bomaderry in what should be another good match. Culburra have been faultless this year and while United pushed them last week they still took the win. They are strong in both attack and defence with virtually no weakness. The likes of Mitchell Blundell, Joel Fowler, Kieran Witt, Dale Blundell and Lindsay Higgins have all been strong this year.
Bomaderry currently sit in fifth position although they are on the same points as third placed Milton. They had a good win over Heads last week with Matthew Nash taking time off from his duties with the Central Coast Mariners to score a double. While Bomaderry have lost several of last year’s stars at full strength they can still compete with most sides as last week’s result shows. Bomaderry will try hard but Culburra are going too well and will take maximum points.
Huskisson will play Basin in what is always a hard fought local derby. At the start of the year Huskisson were one of the favourites in the competition and while everything didn’t go to plan early they have improved over the last two weeks. They did well to come back and draw with Gerringong two weeks ago while they were far too good for Manyana last week. Huskisson coach Rob Hawker will hope his side have turned the corner.
While Basin currently sit at the foot of the table they are only three points behind third place. They have performed admirably against Gerringong, Culburra and United and had a win over Bomaderry. Dane McGinn and Tim White are strong up front while Simon and Ben Cubbo have also been good so far this year. Huskisson have now found the form most critics expected and they should win this match.
The final match in this round is between Manyana and Shoalhaven United. Manyana sit in fourth position and are within striking distance of the top two. Manyana coach Wayne Pennington will want his side to forget last week’s result and concentrate on taking the points this week. Pennington will be looking for strong performances from Marcus Daley, Mitch Butel, Rohan Daley and Billy Zappas.
United can consider themselves unlucky not to get a draw against Culburra last week after playing the last 30 minutes with only 10 men. They need to improve defensively as they currently have one of the worst records in the competition. Coach Trevor Skingle will want Dean Atkinson, Matt Lewis, Matt Fuz and James Spackman to be at their best in this game. This should be another close game however at home Manyana should be able to win.
