Zachery Ambrose, of Back Creek Road, failed to appear before Magistrate Dr Gabriel Fleming in Milton Local Court on Tuesday, charged with police pursuit not stop and driving while disqualified.
Magistrate Fleming dealt with the charges in Ambrose’s absence, disqualifying him from driving for five years and issuing a warrant for his arrest.
The court heard between 6.09pm and 6.24pm on Sunday, October 11 Ambrose was driving a car in Nowra and should have reasonably known police were in pursuit but did not stop the vehicle and drove a reckless manner, dangerous to others.
He was also charged with being a disqualified driver.
The vehicle came under police notice around 6pm and fled from officers, leading them on an eight kilometre chase through Douglas Street, Leatham Avenue, Jervis, Journal, St Anns and Kalandar streets, before turning into Old Southern Road.
An attempt was made to stop the vehicle by deploying road spikes near Quinns Lane but failed.
A second attempt with the spikes shortly after was successful and Ambrose was arrested in a bushland area around 6.15pm.
