Eighteen volunteers came along and planted 400 mangrove trees, repaired fences to protect mangroves and did some maintenance on flood damaged trees. This was all followed by a barbecue on the river bank.
Riverwatch was successful in receiving a $7,900 Fish Habitat Action Grant from the NSW Department of Industry to continue their work stabilising the riverbanks and planting mangroves along the Shoalhaven River.
The next working bee will be at 9am, February 2 at Numbaa. Interested volunteers call Peter Jirgens on 0488460011 or email peter@jirgens.com.au.
