The board was formed in 2001 as a council committee to provide a voice for the local sporting community.
Council is holding a number of drop in sessions, as well as an online survey to allow residents to make comment as part of the review.
The drop in sessions will be held on Monday, December 7 at the Ulladulla Civic Centre; Tuesday, December 8 at the Erowal Bay Community Hall; and Wednesday, December 9 at the Nowra Administrative Centre.
Each meeting will be held from 5.30pm to 7pm.
The review is part of the ongoing review by council of all its committees and operations.
Consultant Michael Davey, of The Strategic Edge, has undertaken a review of the board and its operation, meeting with the board as a whole, as well as one on one meetings.
“In the 15 years we have been operating I think we have made good progress,” said chairman David Godman.
“I acknowledge the good work of the committee and also council for its willingness to work with the board.
“Lots of things have changed and we have to also look at how we communicate with our sporting groups.
“The sports board has a wide representation of people from numerous sports. But the best thing is no one is pushing their own particular sport.
“We are all there for the betterment of sport in the Shoalhaven.”
Mr Goodman urged the community and in particular sporting groups to provide feedback to the review.
Mayor Joanna Gash said the board plays a key role in facilitating communication between council and the sporting public.
“The board is the peak body in the strategic development of sporting facilities, formulation of ground usage policies and establishment of local amenity priorities,” she said.
“The board also makes recommendations to council on strategic and financial matters relating to sport in the Shoalhaven.”
As well as the drop in sessions, the community can have ther say on an online survey at www.surveymonkey.com/r/shoalsport
There are some great prizes those taking part in the survey can win.
The survey close on December 21.
