Mr Forrester said his company would back a move for the popular marina display to become a permanent fixture.
“The marina area during the river festival is always popular,” he said.
“Why can’t we have something on a permanent basis?”
Mr Forrester is willing to donate $10,000 to buy the first pontoon for such a marina.
He threw out the challenge to other local businesses and Shoalhaven City Council to get on board.
“There are a number of local businesses who could get involved with this idea. They could have naming rights and signage on the pontoons and if we all work together we could make it happen,” he said.
“Council could also come on board with some funding.
“To have a permanent marina would be superb.
“Once we buy them we have them. We don’t have to hire them each year for the festival. They could also be made available all year round.
“I would love to see 10 permanent floating pontoons on the river.”
It is estimated 10 permanent pontoons would cost at least $100,000.
“The Shoalhaven River is a fantastic asset and we as a community should be using it more and we are thrilled to be involved with the river festival which is getting bigger and bigger each year,” he said.
