It is time for the council to admit that councils past were sold an expensive fantasy, which has been continued by the current council.
Walk away from Shaolin, quarantine the land, and not release it until if and when a sensible, sensitive and realistic development can be financed and completed. If that means nothing, well it’s more than we have from the Shaolin proposal.
Who knows? There may be another group ready to pounce. What is imperative is for the land to be quarantined for a sensible period of time. Let’s not leap out of the frying pan and straight into the fire.
A question: whose figures are the oft touted “upwards of 300,000 overseas visitors per year, while injecting approximately $132 million in regional turnover annually into the local economy”. I’m not having a swipe at Cr Gash – she’s been fed this information.
What I ask is transparent, credible facts and figures be presented to council and Cr Gash. Who’s up for it?
J. Nicholson,
Vincentia.
