Partner and managing director at G.J. Gardner Homes Shoalhaven Sean Vickery said he was proud of the award as it was testament to the ethos shared by all 10 staff.
“At the heart of our business is our drive to become known as a trusted advisor in an industry not renowned for its ethics,” he said.
“The core values of our business are based on achieving this goal,” he said.
“Our motto is we sleep well at night because of the decisions we make – and we truly operate by this.
“In a regional town people talk so to be successful and establish a great reputation we have to be doing the right thing by our customers.”
The company believes in giving back to community and was instrumental in helping raise $209,000 for Variety, The Children’s Charity, project managing and constructing the G.J. Variety Freedom Home.
“This has been a 12 month project and a true example of what can be achieved when a community shares a common goal,” Mr Vickery said.
“We patron a number of events and causes in the community.”
Mr Vickery has operated the building company with his business partner Nathan Fay for the past four years after making the move from project management for a large commercial builder into residential building.
“I originally came back to Shoalhaven and worked with my dad in property until I came across the G.J. brand and it sparked my interest in working for myself,” he said.
“While it has been a lot of work it has been nothing short of rewarding; from both a lifestyle and financial perspective.
“We have grown 500 per cent since inception four years ago and it is fulfilling to know we did it without ever dropping our standards or compromising our principles.
“We built 50 homes last year, which was a 70 per cent increase on the previous year.”
G.J. Gardner Homes NSW managing director Matt Hope said Sean and Nathan were exemplary franchisees and testament to what can be achieved in the industry.
“They certainly deserve this award as not only do the pair run a consistent, strong performing and well respected business they ensure the success is shared with their local community,” he said.
“What they have achieved with the G.J. Variety Freedom home is nothing short of phenomenal.
“I wish them continued success and I’m confident they will continue to shine in Shoalhaven.”
This award is one of many the business has won over the past two years including Small Business of the Year, Best in Building and Construction and G.J. Gardner Homes Franchisee of the Year NSW 2012 and 2013.
