Maddinson visited his old school Bomaderry High last week and was joined by NSW team-mate Moises Henriques.
The two cricketers were in the region as part of Cricket NSW’s Toyota Country Blitz.
“Yeah a few memories came flooding back,” Maddinson said after he arrived at the school.
He enjoyed a walk around the old school yard and also had a look at the photos in an office of his former teachers.
His last year was 2009.
The two cricketers then spent time with a select group of Bomaderry High School students – rated as promising cricket players.
They sat with the students, signed posters and talked to them about cricket.
Maddinson’s brother Cooper goes to Bomaderry High and is also one of school’s promising cricketers.
The Maddinson brothers catch up as much as they can.
“I have been coming home as much as I can during the pre-season and we play a bit of golf at Shoalhaven Heads,” he said.
Maddinson, with the season not too far away, is now fully focussed on a most important season.
“I need to be more consistent and start making big hundreds,” he said.
“I have only made three centuries for NSW in four seasons and need to make more runs.
“I am only 22 but going into my fifth season with NSW I need to take more of a leadership role.”
Including the Master Blaster himself, Sir Vivian Richards, Maddinson’s talent has impressed many past and present cricketers.
Maddinson still has dreams of playing Test match cricket for Australia.
“Since I was five or six-years-of-age my dream has been to play Test match cricket and that is still my goal,” he said.
Maddinson said he appreciated all the support he gets from the Shoalhaven community.
