Fire danger still real

September 23 2014 - 6:17pm

SHOALHAVEN District RFS manager Mark Williams said the Shoalhaven is again potentially shaping up for another busy fire season. “When I went away to Canada I was extremely concerned of what may be ahead,” he said. “But in the four or five weeks I’ve been away the area has had a lot of rain and it has put a bit of a dampener on the start of the fire season. It was welcomed, but it does not take much for everything to dry out. We will need more follow up rain by Christmas or we could be back in a bad fire season.”
