The day spreads the message “Don’t Box Me In” – meaning everyone has the right to be proud of who they are and live without labels or judgment.
Wear it Purple was initiated by two passionate and committed young Australian students who decided to offer a positive response to the growing number of media reports of teenage suicides linked to homophobic bullying.
The NSW Police Force has actively supported the event since 2012, through school visits and presentations, community activities and on social media.
Shoalhaven police, in partnership with Headspace Shoalhaven, will host a community activity to celebrate Wear it Purple Day, staging an information stall inside the Stockland Nowra Shopping Centre between 3.30pm and 5pm.
