The 20-year-old former Milton Ulladulla Bulldogs under 18s player was killed early on Saturday when he was hit by a train travelling between Thirroul and Bulli about 3.45am.
After growing up in Mollymook, Chad was living in the Illawarra with a few other former Ulladulla students while attending the University of Wollongong.
News of his death so shocked the Bulldogs players that several were unable to take to the field during Sunday’s game against Shellharbour.
Chad’s body was found near the Point Street overpass.
Wollongong police inspector Phil O’Neil said the cause of death was still being investigated.
Anyone with information that may assist police should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
