Every August, library staff invite the Nowra Wrap with Love group from their meeting room downstairs into the main library to enjoy a morning tea and shine a light on the charity work the group’s members do.
It was a chance for the knitters to thank the members of the community who drop in balls of wool and completed squares that are added together to make the knitted blankets.
The wraps are shipped all over Australia and around the world to people suffering in the cold.
This year, the Nowra group has made 149 wraps and countless other knitted items such as booties, knee rugs and baby jackets. Last year, they made more than 300 wraps.
Nowra Wrap with Love co-ordinator Rae Watson said she couldn’t thank the community enough.
“We have miles of squares that people have knitted at home and dropped in to us.
“The library staff is fantastic, without them Nowra Wrap with Love would not be what it is today.
“Murphy Family Funerals delivers all our wraps to the warehouse in Sydney for free.
“Thank you to everyone involved,” she said.
To contribute to Nowra Wrap with Love or to join the group, phone Rae Watson on 4446 5577. It meets in the library meeting room on the first Tuesday of the month.
