Good morning everyone! Here's a quick run-down of everything you need to know about what happened in Glasgow overnight. Some outstanding results for the Aussies. FULL MEDAL TALLY HERE. ATHLETICS  At the track in the men's 5000m, Australian Collis Birmingham finished 12th in a time of 13:35.44. SWIMMING James Magnussen has won the gold medal in the 100m freestyle. The two-time world champion clocked 48.11 seconds as Australia claimed the trifecta in the pool's blue riband event. National title holder Cameron McEvoy won silver in 48.34 with Tommaso D'Orsogna taking third in 49.04. It was Magnussen's first individual Commonwealth Games gold and second medal in Glasgow after helping the men's 4x100m freestyle to victory on Friday. It was also a brilliant night for the girls, with Belinda Hocking claimed gold in the women's 200m backstroke. Alicia Coutts won silver in the 200m individual medley and Madeline Scott earned a silver in the para 100m breaststroke. Australians Ben Treffers and Mitch Larkin took gold and silver in the men's 50m backstroke final. Treffers won in a time of 24.67. MARATHON  In a field of African runners, Australian Michael Shelley has defied expectation and won the marathon gold in an extraordinarily powerful and commanding fashion. 1994 winner Steve Moneghetti ran the final 1000m with Shelley to offer encouragement.  The silver medallist in Delhi, Shelley was authoritative in taking the lead with five kilometres to go, surging and claiming goldin a time of two hours 11 minutes and 15 seconds - a new personal best time. Shelley joins Rob De Castella (two-time winner) Steve Moneghetti and Dave Power to win gold in the marathon at the Commonwealth Games. Jess Trengove claimed the bronze in the women's marathon. Trengove thought she was running for fourth when she heard the news, from Scots in the crowd, that Michael Shelley had won. Then the crowd yelled out that she was also closing in on the woman in third place. "Hearing along the way that Shelley had got the gold. I just thought I can do this, go Australia. He certainly helped me to squeeze that little bit extra out of me today," said Trengove. CYCLING Matthew Glaetzer took gold in the men's Keirin in a time of 10.465, while Glenn O'Shea took silver in the men's scratch race. In a big result, Australian 23 year old Stephanie Morton defeated Aussie cycling golden girl Anna Meares to win gold in the women's sprint. The pair are roommates for the games. RUGBY SEVENS The Aussie Sevens were beaten by New Zealand in their semi final 19-7. Australia will now take on Samoa for the bronze medal, while New Zealand will take on South Africa in the gold medal match. HOCKEY The hockeyroos proved far too powerful for Scotland, winning 9-0. Jodie Kenny scored three and Anna Flanagan grabbed two goals. NETBALL The Aussie Diamonds destroyed Barbados 77-27. The match was almost a formality for Australia, who have their eye firmly on the gold medal.
