The woman was discovered at a make-shift camp on the northern side of Bomaderry Oval, overlooking Bomaderry Creek around 3.30pm.
A crime scene was established with scientific officers and detectives inspecting the scene.
Although unable to identify the cause of death, police say there is nothing suspicious.
Police said the woman, believed to be in her 40s, appeared to have been camping in the area for some time in a “rough bush humpy”.
The woman had been seen at the campsite, adjacent to the Bomaderry Apex Park, off Bolong Road on Saturday by a male witness, who said she appeared to be sleeping in a tent-like area.
When the man returned to the location on Sunday afternoon, the woman was in the same position and upon checking, discovered she was dead.
A report is being prepared for the coroner.
