A MOUNT ST THOMAS woman will face court next month after allegedly attempting to take drugs into the South Coast Correctional Centre.

Police allege about 10am Saturday the woman went to the correctional centre at South Nowra to visit a prisoner.
Correctional centre staff allegedly saw the woman acting suspiciously while at the visitor counter.
Correctional staff searched the woman and found a quantity of prohibited and prescription drugs.
Shoalhaven police attended the centre, conducted investigations and arrested the 27-year-old woman.
She was taken to Nowra Police Station and charged with bring/introduce small quantity of drug into a detention centre; bring/introduce prescribed poison into a place of detention and possess prohibited drug.
She was granted conditional bail to appear before Nowra Local Court on August 18.
