A man will appear in court next month after he was charged with introducing prohibited items into a correctional facility where he was employed on the state’s South Coast.

Earlier this year investigators attached to the Corrective Services Investigation Unit commenced inquiries into claims that prohibited drugs, prescription drugs and various items of contraband were being introduced into a correctional centre in return for payment.
Officers attached to Strike Force Kubax continued with their inquiries and about 7.30am Tuesday a 43-year-old man was stopped as he entered his place of employment on The Links Road at Nowra.
The corrective services officer was searched and police will allege they located 150 tablets in a heat sealed pack.
Officers subsequently searched the man’s home in Shellharbour.
It will be further alleged that they located cash and drugs.
He was then conveyed to Lake Illawarra Police Station where he was charged with trafficking drug into a correctional centre x 2, agent corruptly receive benefit x 2, supply prohibited drug x 2, possess prohibited drug and goods in custody.
He was granted conditional bail to appear at Port Kembla Local Court on 6 August 2014.
Inquiries into the matter continue.
